The Arts

At Cocos Islands District High School, the Arts provides opportunities for students to express themselves, develop their creativity and build confidence through Music and Visual Arts. Guided by the Western Australian Curriculum, students explore ideas, develop skills and techniques, and learn to appreciate the work of artists and musicians from different cultures and backgrounds.

In Music, students develop their listening, rhythm and performance skills, with our school choir providing further opportunities to sing together and share their talents with the school community. The Choir is a regular performance at our whole school assemblies and integration days.

In Visual Arts, students experiment with materials, techniques and processes to create artworks that communicate their ideas and experiences. Our island environment and rich cultural heritage provide inspiration, helping students connect their learning with the world around them.
